English & Science For The Contemporary World

                         1st Term

Week 4:

During this week we have made the exams of Science For the Contemporary World and English.

Week 5:

This past week we started reading four texts about a founded fossile of a girl that lived 33 million years ago. Then, we divided the four members of the group and we analyzed the texts with the members of the other groups. When we get together again, we ordered the texts in the correct order and then we answered some questions about the text.

Week 6:

This week, in English Language, we have revised the Past Voice and we made some exercices about it. We have also red the first chapter of the book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". I think that is a very interesting book even though I had only red the first chapter as I said.

In Science For The Contemporary World, Alex, Víctor, Guillermo and me started a Prezi about the evolution. It contains the three main theories with a little explanation of everyone. We will finish it for next week.

Week 7:

In English Language, we started revising for the exam this week making some exercices of passive voice and conditionals during this week. I don't feel that this is too dificult for me, but I need to concentrate when I'm doing the exam.

In Science For The Contemporary World, we finished our Prezi about Evolution.

Week 8:

During this week we have made the exams of Science For the Contemporary World and English.

Week 9:

On Monday we've seen our English & Science exams and we started with the new topic, called the Infectious Diseases. I hope this will be a great topic, because I like all things related with medicine. After reading a text of Ebola, we did a little resume about it using a help that Susanna gave to us.

Week 10:

I've been sick during this week, so I lost Tuesday's class. My classmates explained me what they had learned, so now, I can keep up with the rest of the class. On Thursday with Carola, we keept reading the PDF of the Infectious Diseases. The next day with Susanna, we learned how to our portfolio must look like, so I made some changes to it.

Week 11:

During this week we had revised for the exam that we have the next Tuesday.

Week 12:

This week we had made our final exams of English Language & Science For The Contemporary World. I don't found it too dificult, but I know that I need to improve my grammar part despite my writting is good.

                        2nd Term

Week 1:

This week we had an excursion to Àger so we haven't got any English or SFTCW class. On Friday I was sick, so I can't came to class.

Week 2:

This week we only had one day of an English class, because the week started on Thursday. We revised for the exam that we have next week.

Week 3:

This past week we did our English & Science For The Contemporary World exams. Both of them were dificult. I know that the SFTCW was better than the english one, and that's because I think that the english part was more difficult than the other. I always found the phrasal verbs too complicated, and this exams were about that. I need to revise them again and try to do it better next time!

Week 4:

During this past week, in the English Language classes, we had revised the phrasal verbs and how to do an argumentative text, because the teacher said that in the exam there were some mistakes with them. We also made some questions for Marina, a person who has studied abroad. In Science for the Contemporary World we keep doing our activities of biotechnology and our activities of assisted reproduction.

Week 5:

This past week we have studied Biodiversity and we have revised our texts and try to correct our mistakes. I found a little bit difficult the part of the Biodiversity, so I proposed to review all the things that we made in class when I get home and ask if I have any type of question. I felt really comfortable this week in class, because I like the topics that we’re studying now.

Week 6:

This week we have studied Reproductive Asssisted Technology and my mother came to class to do us a presentation about it. It was really interesting and I really ennjoy it. In English class, we did grammar activities and we did a composition about the Chapter 7 of the book "Do Andoids dream of electric Sheep?". I am personally starting to like the book.

Week 7:

This week in English and Science for the Contemporary World we had made both exams on Tuesday. It was a little big long in my opinion, but it was not too difficult (as regards to contents). I think that the best part of my exam is the SFTCW part, because my mother helped me to study something’s and it really helped me.

Week 8-9:

During this two weeks in Science For The contemporary World we have studied the climate crisis and we have revised the natural resources. In English we did an activity about the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and we finished our grammar activities about the phrasal verbs, prepositions, etc… I really enjoyed doing the activities of the book because this way I really know if I am understanding the book.

Week 10:

This week we have revised for both exams because next week is the final week term exams. In the exam will appear things about the climate change, natural resources, sustainable management, and biodiversity, from the past exam. In my opinion this exam will be complicated because there’s too much theory and it can appear whatever we had made in all the term so I will need time to study it all.

Week 11:

This final exam had a little bit of trouble for me because the first part of the exam, which is the reading, was too complicated because it used some technical words that I didn’t understand. Even though this, all the other parts of the exam were not as difficult as I thought. I hope I can get a good mark in this final exam, because I have studied more than the other exams.

                         3rd Term

Course reflexion:

1st Term:

The first term of English and Science for the contemporary world was the origin of the universe. We studied vocabulary about it and many other things like its composition, its shape, the different theories about how the universe was created, etc… We also searched information about Stephen Hawking, who has invented a theory.

After that, we saw the origin of the humanity, studying the different theories of the evolution and talking about Darwin, Lamarck, Cuvier, etc... I really enjoyed this topic.

In English we also worked on passive voice, something new for some of my classmates, but not for me.

2nd Term:

We started the second term of the course talking about infectious diseases and vaccines, different types of illnesses and how can we prevent them. We talked a lot about Ebola, a recent topic who everybody was talking about then. To talk about it we used the phrasal verbs and the passive voice, too.

3rd Term:

The last topics of English and Science for the contemporary world were Biotechnology, Ecology and Climate Change. We talked about almost everything about every topic and now we are making a trivial game of all the topics we had worked on during the course.

We also practised the indirect Speech, reporting verbs and connectors. During this course, we read a book called Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep?, a very difficult vocabulary book but, despite that, I managed to get an eight in the exam.
